Due to the spread of Covid-19 throughout the region, on March 15th 2020, New York City was officially closed for business. All public venues had already ceased operation and the Mayor ordered public schools to close their doors. Only essential services were allowed to operate and residents were ordered to shelter-at-home.
The Coronavirus pandemic subsequently ravaged my neighborhood. Elmhurst and Jackson Heights in Queens became the epicenter-of-the-epicenter of the national outbreak.
My visual documentation of the pandemic's effects on Queens and NYC is ongoing as residents try to regain normalcy amidst a city on the verge of catastrophic health and financial crises.
